A shout to all creative and curious minds!
where do all the creatives live in singapore? are all artists, designers, musicians, writers, dancers, actors, inventors and challengers residing in charming concrete shoeboxes somewhere in the suburbs?
what a pity, we thought; we can do this differently:
my partner and i just rented a colonial shophouse apartment to set up a space to live, create and share/challenge ideas - JOIN US!
the jewel is located in a small lane off club street in chinatown, is renovated, spacious and very bright & airy and the huge main room (see pic) will be free starting from mid january 2011.
altogether there are 3 bedrooms of which we occupy the upstairs one, and sam, our housemate/last minute design- and planning consultant lives in the other common room; all of which come with their own private, modern bathrooms as well. downstairs we have a cosy communal living room, hallway and kitchen, as well as our own timber staircase leading up from the street. naturally all bills will be shared, as well as ideas, discussions, dinners, impulsive improv-bursts and so on!
we are looking to create this space with another person or couple who have other priorities in their lives than going shopping, but rather are interested in creation and dialogue, partying and having a good night in, cooking sessions and movie screenings! the aim is a residence of comfort yet inspiration, a space for exchange, but where there's always room & respect for privacy.
beware! we are not so interested in people who just find it "fashionable" to live in a shophouse, without wanting to co-create much of a creative ambience! the people + the energy they contribute are to be the greatest asset here, not the location & style!
as for ourselves, we are a multi-national couple who'll be living here in singapore for the next couple of years to do our masters degrees. felipe (33) is a thinker, graphic- and interaction designer and linda (28) is a visual artist, working in photography and installation. we are both well-travelled and environmentally conscious and see ourselves as open-minded, positive and inquisitive individuals.
